Frequently Asked Questions
Green Depot Xpress – Three Easy Steps

CREATE AN ACCOUNT

Q: What is Green Depot Xpress?
A: Green Depot Xpress is a new service that makes it easier and faster to recycle your beverage containers at our network of depots throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Once you register for an Xpress Account, simply drop off your beverage containers at your local Green Depot for later processing and go. Within five business days, your refund will be deposited into your Xpress Account.

Q: How do I register for a Green Depot Xpress Account?
A: You can register at any Green Depot. You will be asked to provide your name, mailing address and a telephone number, which will automatically be assigned as your Xpress Account number. You will also create a Personal Identification Number (PIN) so that you can securely access your Xpress Account balance and make withdrawals. Once you accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy (hyperlink), your Xpress Account will be activated.

Important Reminder: To ensure that no one can access your account balance or make a withdrawal, do not share or reveal your PIN.

Q: Is the new Xpress service available at all Green Depots across the province?
A: Check with your local Green Depot for more information – click here to use our Green Depot finder.

Q: Can I access my Xpress Account at any Green Depot?
Yes, you can access your Xpress Account at any Green Depot location. To print your labels and drop off your recycling bags, all you require is your Xpress Account telephone number.

Please note that Green Depots operate as independent businesses and therefore if you drop off your beverage containers for recycling at more than one depot location, your account balances will not be consolidated. That means you can only check your balance and or cash out at the Green Depot location where you drop off your recyclables (some exceptions may apply, please check with your local Green Depot for more information).

Q: Can anyone register for an Xpress Account?
A: Yes, anyone can register for an Xpress Account – this includes individuals, businesses, charities and community groups.

Q: Are Green Depot customers required to register for an Xpress Account?
A: No. You can continue to drop off your recyclables at any Green Depot without registering for an Xpress Account. However, we do encourage you to register so that you can experience a faster way to recycle your beverage containers and choose to build an account balance or cash out at a time convenient for you.

Q. Why is my telephone number and mailing address required when registering for an Xpress Account, and how will the information that I provide be used?
A: When you register for an Xpress Account, the telephone number that you provide is automatically assigned as your account number. We require your mailing address in the event that we need to mail a refund cheque to you. In addition, by collecting your personal information, we can confirm your identity should you want to make changes to your Xpress Account.

Occasionally, MMSB may also communicate with you to provide information on a Green Depot, products, services, programs, contests or event that may be of interest to you. If you prefer not to be contacted, you can opt out at any time.

Q: How is the information that I provide protected?
A: The Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) Privacy Policy, applicable to the beverage container recycling program, outlines our privacy commitment to you. Please click here, to review the complete Privacy Policy.
